A Bolton street has been left in shock after a house was set on fire in the middle of the night, with some residents saying they feel "scared" and "insecure".

Three fire engines were sent to Harvest Park in Heaton in the early hours of Sunday, April 14, after a property was set alight.

Doorbell camera footage seen by The Bolton News appears to show a person dousing the front door of the house in fluid, before setting the property alight.

Greater Manchester Police has launched a probe following the incident.

A force spokesperson said: “An investigation into a suspected arson at a property on Harvest Park in Bolton at around 3am on Sunday, April 14 is still ongoing.

“No arrests have been made at this stage.”

All residents who spoke to The Bolton News asked not to be named.

One resident on the street said the situation had left the neighbourhood feeling "insecure".

He added: “We don’t really know what transpired.

“I think maybe petrol (was used) or something, they lit it and ran off. That intent means they want to put out the whole building.”

Another resident said this sort of thing did not usually happen in the area, before adding: “It’s getting a bit like Beirut around here.”

One man, who has lived on the street for 12 years, said the situation was "scary".

He added: “You see fights and stuff, but nothing like this.”The Bolton News: Harvest Park residents were left feeling 'scared' following the incidentHarvest Park residents were left feeling 'scared' following the incident (Image: Jack Fifield, Newsquest)
