Bolton is set to be hotter than Madrid this week as temperatures are expected to climb as the bank holiday weekend approaches.

According to the Met Office, in Bolton, temperatures are set to peak at 19°C on Thursday, May 2, and this is even warmer than the Spanish capital, where temperatures are forecast to reach 14°C.

And going into the bank holiday weekend, temperatures are set to remain high, with Friday, Saturday and Sunday reaching highs of 17°C but cloudy.

A Met Office spokesperson said it would be turning drier as into May, but showers remain possible.

He said: “Feeling warmer than of late with spells of sunshine. Temperatures often somewhat above average but also breezy at times.”

Bolton’s weather forecast going into the bank holiday weekend:

  • Tuesday, April 30: Cloudy with sunny intervals. Highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C. Wind gusts of up to 33mph.
  • Wednesday, May 1: Sunny intervals changing to cloudy by late morning, with light rain. Highs of 16°C and lows of 11°C. Wind gusts of up to 15mph.
  • Thursday, May 2: Sunny intervals moving into a sunny day. Highs of 19°C and lows of 10°C. Wind gusts of up to 29mph.
  • Friday, May 3: Cloudy with sunny intervals. Highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C. Wind gusts of up to 20mph.
  • Saturday, May 4: Overcast day. Highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C. Wind gusts of up to 18mph.
  • Sunday, May 5: Overcast day. Highs of 17°C and lows of 10°C. Wind gusts of up to 19mph.
