A TEENAGE killer who stabbed his victim 16 times with a kitchen knife has been found guilty of manslaughter.

Jabar Ahmed launched the attack on Rabid Amin after a row between the pair turned violent outside a town-centre takeaway.

Ahmed, aged 19, was found guilty by majority verdicts of manslaughter, wounding and possessing the knife used to kill Mr Amin, aged 25.

He was cleared of his murder.

He was warned by a judge that he faces a lengthy jail term when he is sentenced later this month.

Mr Amin's family were too upset to comment last night, but friends outside the court said the verdict was "a joke".

The victim was married and lived with his wife in Luton Street, Burnden.

Judge Anthony Gee QC told Ahmed, of Campbell Street, Farnworth: "You have been convicted by a jury of serious offences of violence.

"They found that, despite your testimony to the contrary, you were the man wielding the knife that caused the death of Rabid Amin."

A two-week trial at Manchester Crown Court heard that Mr Amin and his friends had been feuding with a group of men from the Campbell Street area of Farnworth, including Ahmed, in the weeks leading up to the attack following a failed carjacking attempt.

An argument broke out between Ahmed and Mr Amin in the J2 nightclub, in Nelson Square, Bolton, on the night of November 18, during which Mr Amin spat in his aggressor's face.

After the two groups left, there was a confrontation between Ahmed and Mr Amin in the Raja takeaway in Bradshawgate after the killer asked: "Who's going to buy me a pizza?"

Ahmed left before returning with friends and asked the victim to go outside before raining blows down on Mr Amin's head and body.

Friends tried to intervene but were overpowered by Ahmed.

A police van carrying six officers arrived and PC Helen Heffey tried to restrain Ahmed, who continued attacked Mr Amin.

When he was arrested, the victim was bleeding heavily and a nine-inch kitchen knife was found nearby. Mr Amin later died in hospital.

Ahmed's conviction for wounding, relates to cuts caused to Sajid Ahmed, aged 23, during the same fight.

Gulstan Azam, aged 26, of Rawson Street, Farnworth, had pleaded guilty to violent disorder for his part in the incident and will be sentenced along with Ahmed on July 20.

l Extra police were last night on patrol in the Great Lever and Farnworth areas amid fears of reprisals in the wake of yesterday's verdicts.
