Wanderers chairman Phil Gartside confirmed money is available for new manager Gary Megson to spend.

Asked about the availability of funds in the January transfer window Gartside told a Press Conerefence at the Reebok: "If the opportunity arises - but the key word is strengthen.

"Bringing players in is easy but bringing in the right players is the trick we have got to get right.

"We have got a strong squad and we have got to get them into a team shape that suits them."

LOVE BOLTON HATE GARTSIDE

I read the full statement, and his sliminess said "WE HAVE ALWAYS MADE TRANSFER FUNDS AVAILABLE IN JANUARY"

Might I add "yeah Phil, but some old pesetas, a spare button and your busfare home doesn't really constitute 'a budget' really"

When Martin Allen left we felt disillusioned. Megson leaving, were dancing in the streets" NOT MY WORDS, THE WORDS OF A LEICESTER FAN!! Get these clowns out.

Bolton News doing their best to stop the adverse comments, posting a new story every half hour will stop the 300 plus comments from yesterday. 300 plus comments against Megson and they publish a nice photograph of him being welcomed at the Reebok. And the sports editot fobs me of about "a duty to report the facts" well a journalists duty is to publish both sides of any argument and find out the facts not act a Gartsides publicity machine. Its scandalous and its only Spurs sacking Jol that has taken the spotlight from it. (Jol would be rubbish at BWFC btw )

Don't just take 5, "sleep on it"! A wonderful therapy for calming our thoughts on what has been going on at our beloved club at the beginning of this season. We all feel we have been let down by the Chairman and can only hope that the Owner might be concerned about his actions too.

However. I thought that our new Manager - FACT - gave a good interview and will give him my full backing for at least ten games.

I do not want the team to go down and will not be a part in any more divisive posts to assist in that.

The reality is that you negative posters are a VERY SMALL MINORITY . The majority, (who are NOT gutless sheep by the way) "as I have said before" are decent, hard working, family men and women and their kids who support their local team.

I will give Megson a chance - because Gartslime wont get rid of him - get behind the team guys come on, but as far as Gartslime goes: "money available"!!! THE PROTESTS MUST START NOW - if pinochio syndrome was real, you could slide down Gartslime's nose all the way to Australia. He is the biggest bullshitter there is. WE MUST NOW TAKE SIGNS "GARTSLIME OUT" He wont give us any money he is a liar liar liar. He disgusts me!!!

Hey mister Pedro, I should imagine we are all mostly "decent family types" and we all support our local team. I have in the past been on here defending Gartside against what I thought was unjust criticism, If I seee the current situation as warranting a so called negative response as someone who has been criticised for my so called positive outlook might I repectfully suggest that I and others have the right to so do.

I'd also dispute your statistics supporting your minority claim, I suppose it is down to what you in your wisdom deem to be "negative".

Just maybe your "negative" is someone elses "legitimate concern"

Yours,

Like i said yesterday you sometimes have to be cruel to the club to be kind to the club. If everybody boycotts Sundays game I can't see Gartside having any option but to go. Ok, it would be hard for the players and Megson but long term it would be good for BWFC.

Quotes from the past week.

"he would be an exceptional candidate for the role". Gartside on Souness, ignoring the huge mess he left both Blackburn and Newcastle in.

"I have paid particular attention to his career". Gartside on Megson, ignoring his record of 7 wins in 48 premier league games.

Then when fans quite justifiably take issue with his judgement he calls us fickle!!!

No wonder most fans hate the man and want him out of our club asap

Not well said Pedro. Please do me a favour and stop patronising us with your therapeutic nonsense. Where's your evidence that the majority of posters are only a small minority? I seem to recall the vote on this issue showed over 90% of fans against the appointment! And to assume that those of us with the anger are in some way not decent, hard working, family men and women is a complete insult. I'll agree with you on one count...we should support the new boss now. I'll agree with that. But I'll not support a chariman that accuses the vast majority of Wanderers fans of being too thick to understand this value of this appointment. He owes every fan a massive apology for that comment..and you should also apologise for insulting those of us who wish to voice our opinions.

Even is there is only gartside in ground watching him , be funny though watching match of the day with only gartside in the stand . We need to get behind megson and hopefully if he keeps us up , protest against gartside then . Because everybody agrees we do not want him to be our chairman and he is doesnt no what he is doing . I wouldn't abuse Megson at this stage. I don't know why he's been appointed given his track record but at least he isn't Souness.
Bolton fans (ie those who go and watch rather than criticise on this forum, and hope the the team fails) have been pressing for European football. Last night the ground was two thirds empty, with tickets at £10. No wonder that we can't attract a decent manager. What was worse last night were the booing and shouts against Megson, Gartside and the board, when the team were playing - were these all Blackburn fans wanting us to join them in exiting the EUFA cup?
Try backing the team rather than follow the pathetic Scum fans who refused to watch "their" team because they thought that they could oust the owner!

hatemanu - whatever we may think about Megson, love him or hate him the reality is that however innocent, he is not going to be part of the solution.

By default that makes him part of the problem.

why?

because of the nature of his appointment

because of his negative track record in the
prem and championship

because of his tactical reputation

because of his man management credentials - consistently alienates his players

because he's here to blag one last pay check before he disappears into obscurity

because the two and a half year contract means nothing it just indicates how much compensation he will take when he's sacked

because it will almost certainly hasten the departure of the talent that we need to stay up

because he represents Gartsides last throw of the dice and he can't deliver

because if he gets his 10 games that works out at 240,000 grand per game in compo and we are then in a position of having to chase points with no more games left = doing a baggies

because worse still if we are relegated and he keeps his job because they think he can get us back first time then we will have reached the disasterous conclusion languishing in the championship going nowhere = doing a forest

2 1/2 years later we are looking for a new manager

in the championship

Nobody wanted GFM, he is here now and stated his position. Hard work and wants what we all want to take BWFC forward. No amount of protests - booing - and campaigns to get Gartside out will make the sligtest difference.
Gartside is not going, Megson is not going. Time for protests etc is if by January we are still in the bottom 3. By then we will know if Gartside has made the right choice, Megson is up to it and we can see a way fwd to competing for a euro place.

It's true "unhappy wanderer" you don't have to go to the game to have an opinion, your opinion is more valid if you do go though.I know many Liverpool,Manchester United fans who all have opinions but never go to games, now Bolton too appear to have a lot of fans who think they can read reports/watch telly and have an opinion worth listening to - and many appear on this site criticising things they know nothing about. All you can say to these "fans at home" is get down to the ground and form an informed opinion worth listening to.

Just watched extended highlights of the RSB v Bayern game on the Bayern Website(English commentary too)- 12 euros for three months subsciption. Both goalkeepers look suspect and teams look good but beatable by an in-form Wanderers team. Pitch condition was poor according to the commentator. Described as not good enough for European Football. In one of the preview interviews it was said that RSB are full of very young inexperienced players and the team would be only be equivalent to teams in the bottom half of the second Bundesliga. They still gave Bayern quite a game though.

The point I am making here is that slagging off people's views on the basis they "probably don't" go to games is patronising and presumptious. If a person enters the Reebok on one occasion a season he has enriched the club & is entitled to a say. Does BWFC whinge that the paying customers who watch Sky are not "true fans"? Not bloody likely, Sky pays rather well. I think lively debate is a good thing provided it does not seek to justify Gartside as the club's chairman. If it does, it is overwhelmingly misguided.

This is the first opportunity I have had to comment on our new appointment.

Certain questions I would like to put to Mr Gartside:-

Do you now see us as a small club with what can best be described a journeyman manager?

Do we no longer have ambition to be a top 6 side?

Frankly, I am appalled at the appointment. This is a man who was hounded out from Forest by discontented fans, then spent the next 18 months applying for, and being rejected by lower league clubs.

The same man who 6 weeks ago was out of a job, we now pay around £300000 compensation to Leicester, whose fans also jeered him out of their ground.

We are a club in freefall. There has to be a hidden agenda here. Brave enough to tell us what it is, Phil?

under the mugson/ phil sh1teside era, i think the team should run out to this. very apt. read the words ... sad but true.

"Mad World"

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me

i have just heard some sad news, that the 2 boys in the photograph have been kidnapped by some anti megson/gartside fundamentals. they have demanded that there will be a videoed beheading unless we bring back rioch/todd. It certainly is a mad world.

This "agent" business keeps nagging at me, what is a guy like this doing representing our club, given his dodgy background.

Is it possible that Gartside, moreso than Allardyce, was involved in the bungs scandal, and that this agent knows enough to convict him, therefore Gartside has to keep him onside by offering him work, fees, commissions etc and by offering his totally unsuitable client the managers job??

Just a thought.

The Warburtons -How much influence do they have?
This is not meant to be a witch hunt (I stand to be corrected on aspects of this posting)but Since I started watching Bolton in the 1970s one family has lurked in the background rarely venturing publicly to outline their strategy or vision for our club .

This family one of Britians wealthiest have been making decisions that have seen our club almost go out of business several times whilst their own business appears to go from strength to strength.

Lets recall some of the decisons that they have been involved in making whilst serving as baord members
1-Bromwich Street training ground sold off that the club owned - for years the club did not have a training ground Colin Todd I think got the present site at Euxton - though I don't know id we actually own it?
2-The Normid Superstore- wasn't that going to be bult further back and have a football stand, sports centre incorporated into its design.
3-Lack of investement in an infrastructure for the club as well as players for the football club.
4-The failiure to redevelop Burndedn Park and build a stadium in the heart of our town on land that the club owns - I suspect the Reebok site is on a long term lease like many of the new stadiums
5-Floating BWFC as a Public Limited Company that resulted in supports losing money
