WANDERERS are hailing their ambitious plans to tempt young fans back to the Reebok Stadium as a "phenomenal success".
The £49 season ticket - aimed at under-16s in all areas of the ground - has sparked massive interest, providing a major chunk of what the club claim is the fastest rate of sales since the Premiership era began.
And commercial director Gareth Moores believes the success of the venture so far is just reward for what was a gutsy decision to buck the trend of rising prices in the top flight.
"We took what, in my eyes, was a very bold step," he said. "We recognised that with home bills and fuel prices and the like going through the roof that we had to do something. We had to make sure Premiership football was as affordable as possible for our fans while still being able to move forward as a club.
"We kept prices as low as we could and I think, particularly with the £49 season ticket, it has been a phenomenal success."
Wanderers reported record sales of around 19,000 last season, and with seven days remaining before the discount deadline expires, there is reason to believe that figure could be surpassed.
"People have still got plenty of time to take advantage of what I think is a great offer," said Moores.
"The children's ticket works out at £2.57 a game, and as part of a family ticket is only a pound a game. When you think what you can get for that nowadays, it really puts it into perspective.
"Some might think that it is a bit too inexpensive, but for me, it is about making sure young fans get that rewarding experience. I remember my first game, and once you get that bug, you want to come back.
"The kids coming through the doors right now are not only the supporters of the future, they are the businessmen and investors. There might well be another Eddie Davies in there."
The discounted season ticket deadline expires next Saturday. More information can be found at www.bwfc.co.uk or on 0871 871 2932.
l Tickets for the pre-season friendly at Tranmere Rovers on July 29 will be priced at £7 for adults and £3 concessions.
