A van was stopped on the M61 last night when police discovered it had cloned number plates.
Motorway police stopped the cloned Citroen Berlingo van and, after checks, also realised the driver had no insurance or licence.
A spokesman for police said: "The cloned Citroen Berlingo was picked up on the M61 following ANPR by our motorway patrol.
"The vehicle was successfully stopped on the M62 J11. The driver was found to have no licence or insurance."
Recently, officers from GMP’s Bolton North team caught a male driver on Sunday, April 7, before loading the black Vauxhall car onto a recovery vehicle to be taken away.
A spokesman for GMP’s Bolton North team said: “Officers from the Bolton North Neighbourhood Team seized this car in Breightmet yesterday."
“The driver was found to have no licence or insurance. He has been reported to court for these offences.”
According to GOV.UK, driving without insurance can lead to six penalty points and a fixed penalty of £300 for those caught committing the offence.
If the case goes to court, drivers flouting the law can receive an unlimited fine and be disqualified from driving.
