Brother joins Apprentice star to battle it out on the airwaves

12:00pm Thursday 28th August 2008

A NEW radio station has hit the airwaves of Bolton.

Hulton Lane FM is the latest in a series of community radio stations to be jointly funded by Bolton at Home and Bolton Council.

The station went on air for the first time on Wednesday morning with the breakfast show, presented by Oliver Wotherspoon and Andrew Brown.

Oliver, aged 27, is the older brother of Apprentice star, Alex Wotherspoon, who will appear on the final breakfast show on Saturday.

Oliver said: “It’s been great so far — we’ve had a lot of fun. We’ll be interviewing members of the community all week and speaking to them about the different projects that have been going on in Deane.

“We also have a feature called Celebrity Arm Wrestle where I have an arm wrestle with one of our guests.

“I can’t wait to arm wrestle Alex — I expect to beat him.”

Apprentice finalist Alex added: “I think the radio station is a fantastic way of bringing the local community together around the Wally’s Centre. I’m looking forward to joining Oliver for his final show.”

Hulton Lane FM broadcasts on 87.7FM 24 hours-a-day and includes music, news and debate.

The station will be open to the public on Saturday, August 30, with activities, sporting tournaments, entertainment and prizes.
