A GROUP of young cyclists have enjoyed a reception with the Mayor of Bolton after riding from Land’s End to John O’Groats for charity.
Liam Farrington, aged 15, Luke Brown, aged 17, and Jake Houseman, aged 15, who all live on Farnworth’s New Bury Estate, and Jack Cullen, aged 14, from Little Lever, were invited to the Town Hall by Cllr Anthony Connell, along with volunteer helper Eddie Birchall, to celebrate their achievement.
The boys are members of New Bury Youth Club and Boxing Club, Farnworth, where Mr Birchall volunteers.
He said: “The Mayor was invited to our welcome home party but was unable to attend. Then we received an invitation to his parlour, which was a great honour."
The proceeds of the bike ride are still coming in but the team hopes to split at least £3,000 between the youth club and the NSPCC.
