COMEDIAN Dave Spikey is to have a rescued Moon Bear named after him.
The comic, who shot to fame in Peter Kay's Channel 4 show Phoenix Nights, has been granted the honour by the Bolton China Bear Rescue Group.
It says the next endangered Moon Bear rescued by British charity, the Animals Asia Foundation, will be named Dave Spikey.
The move follows a benefit show put on by Dave this April 6 to help the group raise funds to rescue more endangered Moon Bears from the bile farms of China. Thousands of endangered Moon Bears are imprisoned in tiny cages on factory bile farms across China and Vietnam. Dave said: "I'm thrilled to have a bear named after me."
He will be attending the Bolton group's fundraising dinneron June 28 at the Yang Sing restaurant in Manchester.
