LANDLORDS in Leigh are to be given a radio link to police in a bid to stamp out trouble.
The town's police and Leigh Pub & Club Watch will start a trial of the new radio system, which offers licensees immediate contact with officers via the police station.
It is hoped the system will allow licensees and police to share information about troublemakers and potential outbreaks of violence.
Inspector Steve Wilkinson, of Leigh police, said: "We hope the radio link will encourage a closer working relationship between door staff, managers and the police, to identify and deal with potential problems before incidents occur.
"Troublemakers are not welcome in Leigh's pubs and clubs, and the town will be a safer place as a result."
